DDL East Announces the Expansion of their Testing Lab in Edison, NJ.

DDL, leader in package, product and material testing for the Lifescience Industry, has made strides to expand their services, both on the testing side of the business and the thermal package design side of the business.

The DDL laboratory in Edison, NJ, recently increased its testing capabilities for thermal performance testing and conditioning for thermal testing.

"With the addition of 4 new temperature chambers at the facility, we will be able to better serve the needs of all of our current and new customers for testing projects across the industry," Peter Johnson, Packaging Engineer at DDL East, said. "We also added 2 Kaye KL 32 Channel Validators calibrated to 0.25°C and 40 remote data loggers calibrated to 0.25°C which will provide accurate results, with a high degree of sensitivity, when evaluating thermal/temperature controlled packaging."

The amount of chamber space that DDL East has added includes;

  • 1,200 cubic foot walk-in chamber, capable of up to 6 pallets, with a temperature of 5°C,
  • 1,200 cubic foot walk in chamber, capable of up to 6 pallets, with a temperature range of 30° to 50°C for development projects
  • Two 400 cubic foot chambers with temperature ranges of -40° to 60°C

DDL has also started the processes of becoming an ISTA 7E certified lab. ISTA 7E is a new standard for thermal transport testing and will include new protocols and standardized processes for thermal package design and testing.

"We have continued to see a need for services in the thermal testing industry and our expansion efforts are allowing us to continually provide the expertise that our clients are looking for," Johnson said.
