The concept of biopharma-industry sustainability has evolved to include how the public views the policies and actions of biopharma companies regarding matters such as workforce diversity, responsibility to patients, and even political affiliations. Neutrality or tradition no longer suffice to protect companies in the current battles over science and anti-science, sexual and gender politics, the environment, public health, and other contested issues.
