I HAVE ATTENDED JPM FOR MANY YEARS and find it one of the most valuable biopharmaceutical industry experiences. As I live in the San Francisco Bay area, there is only one reason beyond a personal event to skip JPM, and that is COVID delta, or any other COVID variant that can overcome our vaccine protection. It is sad that most current deaths due to COVID-19 were preventable by vaccination. In the U.S., along with wearing masks and social distancing, there are ways to be safe at large events like JPM — including allowing only those people who are vaccinated or COVID negative to attend.
