WHEN WORKERS ARE REMOTE THERE IS A SHIFT FROM COOPERATIVE TO INDIVIDUAL THINKING. Establishment of a cohesive company culture is hindered. These elements are critical to building great companies. The shift has created a significant challenge for CEOs. In the next three to five years I expect the pendulum to shift but not back to where it was pre-pandemic. There is a case for a hybrid model where three days in/two days remote is commonplace. As a CEO it will be critical to set clear expectations and establish rules to deal with the changing landscape. Standardize activities to guide your leadership team. This would include blocks of times and when during the week/month team meetings should be scheduled. Events such as onboarding new employees and brainstorming sessions require teams to gather in person. Finally, it is important to incorporate flexibility for workers. In short, we must be prepared for a new norm.
