Clinical research can be very appealing to practicing physicians, often allowing them to develop a different skillset, offer cutting-edge treatments, and enabling them to spend more time with patients. In many ways, it can bring physicians closer to the reason they originally chose to practice medicine. As the industry evolves, recognizing the need for increased diversity, the trial arena is expanding from academic institutions to major city systems to encompass healthcare in less central settings. As a result, community physicians are joining clinical research in larger numbers.
