My wife, Beverly, has a habit of turning on the TV to Good Morning America in our bedroom as she readies for the day. One day I walked into the room and saw Francis Collins, M.D., Ph.D., director of the NIH, being interviewed by George Stephanopoulos. And as they talked, I said to my wife, “You know, I’ve met him several times. Did you know …,” and then I rattled off some of the things I knew about him, and soon I was off on a rant. My pontification concluded with, “THAT’s an inspirational leader! THAT’s the type of person people are inspired to get up and go to work for!”
