Building A Digital Therapeutics Company

Brent Vaughan already knew that if he were to build another company, it would be one focused on digital medicine in behavioral health. That’s when he got the call from Morningside Venture Capital, a VC firm based in Newton, MA.
Having known Vaughan from his first digital health startup, WellnessFX, Morningside wanted to broker an introduction to Dennis Wall, Ph.D., a Harvard professor who had come up with an idea to use machine learning (ML) to screen and potentially diagnose children with autism. “Morningside is closely connected to Harvard, and they expressed an interest in spinning Wall’s technology out of the university and building a company around it,” Vaughan explains.
