Genentech, widely regarded as one of the founding companies of the biotechnology industry, has announced plans to establish a major new manufacturing presence in Holly Springs, North Carolina. The company intends to invest $700 million in the construction of a cutting-edge, 700,000-square-foot facility that will serve as a high-volume fill-finish site—an essential stage in the pharmaceutical manufacturing process where medicines are prepared for final packaging and distribution. This significant expansion is expected to create approximately 420 new jobs and contribute to the region’s growing reputation as a hub for life sciences and biomanufacturing.
