When entrepreneurs are presented with a biotech idea, they must distinguish between those that are merely exciting in concept and those with the potential to be actually developed into a company. It may seem a bit heretical to suggest that there is anything “mere” about a great idea, but the goal of a business is to create a return on investment, so the distinction comes down to a judgement, ultimately made by the market, as to whether the idea is one that can be profitably commercialized.
