"True leadership is having the courage to have the awkward and uncomfortable conversations.” These are the words of Tony Coles, M.D., CEO and chairman of the board of directors for Cerevel. He provided this perspective during a recent panel session at BIO Digital 2020. And if you missed it, well, you missed out — big time. Because here’s something painfully awkward and uncomfortable to admit: I’ve attended many educational sessions, at many events, for many years — 99.99 percent in person. Yet this session, featuring four physician CEOs talking about leading through crisis, was delivered virtually, and it was one of the best biopharma industry educational sessions I have ever attended. But I much prefer attending BIO in person, so let’s not make a habit out of this, shall we?
