One factor contributing to low patient enrollment in clinical trials is the information barrier physicians face when seeking and evaluating trials for their patients. Citeline conducted a physician survey to determine where and how long physicians search for trials. Respondents found the trial information landscape to be fragmented, confusing, incomplete, and hard to navigate. They also reported low trust across information sources.

These difficulties translate into less time spent on searches. The majority of respondents reported taking 5 to 15 minutes per patient to look for trials. After a median of 11 minutes per patient, most physicians stop searching.
