Rugged individualism makes a good Clint Eastwood film, but for companies wanting to innovate, partnership and collaboration are better approaches. Even President Hoover, who coined the term, replaced the go-it-alone rhetoric with the largest public works program the country had seen in order to deal with the harsh realities of the Great Depression.
