Looking from the outside, it can be difficult to tell what stage of growth a biopharma company has reached, but one clear measure of progress is the particular phase of clinical development the company has attained. An enterprise conducting one or more Phase 3 trials will be plainly different from one still in the Phase 1 or even preclinical stage. An instructive example is Chinook Therapeutics.
