After last year’s 2010 Guide to Outsourcing Partners was published, we asked for feedback. We seem to do that a lot. I would be lying if I said I don’t like hearing positive comments about the magazine, but I also want to know when we’ve “missed the mark,” or if there is something we could do better. So, please keep the ideas and suggestions coming. Let us know what you think about this year’s guide and what we can do for continuous improvement.

Included in this issue is a “2011 CMO Capability Reference Guide.” I wish I could claim this was my brilliant idea, but alas, once again, this was feedback provided by you, our readers. Looking for a CMO that specializes in Lyophilization and nothing else? You can quickly find contact info for Smithers Rapra on the grid. Need a CMO that can do just about everything? On the grid, you can easily locate Patheon’s information. You get the idea.

Users of last year’s guide thought this would be a useful tool, and we agree. Perhaps next year we will create one that has a few blank spots at the bottom so you will be able to write in a couple of CMOs that were missed. Another suggestion was to separate the CMO and CRO services into their own guides. We did that, too. So, keep those ideas and suggestions coming. Doing so provides you with valuable editorial that can help you make more informed decisions, as well as essential business tools — such as the CMO Capability Reference Guide — that can assist you in your efforts regarding continuous improvement and cost-effective processes.
