Germany, “the pharmacy of the world,” began its pharmaceutical industry success story in the early 1880s. In the 1970s, the majority of drugs approved in Germany were a result of German research, but, in 2014, 130 years after Germany’s drug dominance began, just 10 percent of drugs approved in Germany stemmed from German research. What happened?
