Survey Report: The Impact Of Enterprise Resource Planning Software On Pharmaceutical Businesses Today

Streamlined processes across multiple business units, efficient and centralized data management, and excellent informatics to support fast and informed decision making are all essential for ensuring sponsors can move drug candidates quickly and safely through clinical trials on the path to commercialization. The use of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software among pharmaceutical and related companies is a critical part of this journey as it drives efficiency in multiple business areas—particularly for companies undergoing equity events. To better understand how sponsors are using ERP software in their businesses today and its impact, Sikich and a partner conducted a survey about drivers of growth, the current use of business systems, main areas of software use, and the expectations of ERP software. Here, the survey’s results are examined in some detail and put into context.
