Taking A Fresh Approach To Finance At BMS

Deep experience in a business function or operational area is essential to avoiding past mistakes, but it also can be a liability. Strong institutional knowledge and a track record of success don’t necessarily mean that a functional leader will have every answer or be able to replicate past solutions to address each new problem. Corporate programs aimed at creating a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workforce have been challenged in recent months by certain political and business leaders, but a simple truth remains: Teams with a diversity of experience, both in terms of skills and expertise, as well as diversity in background, gender, and culture, perform better and are more profitable than less diverse teams.
