Even before the pandemic, biopharma companies, CROs, and medical device manufacturers were already rethinking the clinical development paradigm. They began executing experimental projects to instream data collection digitally, often using telemedicine to replace in-person site visits. Looking back, these before-, during-, and after-COVID measures increased industry learning, decreased concerns about potential risks, and increased confidence in alternative clinical trial methods.
