Service provider selection decisions are not made in a vacuum. In addition to the role that preferred provider agreements (PPAs) play in the process, companies also seek assistance from specialized outside consultants to help with their outsourcing decisions. One-third of respondents said they look to outside consultants for guidance with outsourcing their Phase 2/3 clinical development programs. When looking at company size, a slightly higher proportion of midsize sponsors engage consultants.
