Ed Field's journey into the world of biotechnology innovation began shortly after he earned his MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. While working with an equity-backed biopharma start-up in Seattle, he discovered his passion for the field. His leadership skills shone through as he guided the company to a successful acquisition in 2002, marking the start of a promising career.

In a recent interview with the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, Ed reflected on his experiences: “I learned I really enjoyed meeting entrepreneurs and understanding what they were trying to build. It’s not an easy life, but it is challenging and rewarding to be a part of this industry.” A native of Virginia, Ed completed his undergraduate degree in economics at Duke University. Despite his ventures taking him to different places, he maintained strong ties to the area.
